Detailed introduction
CRP is a serum beta-globulin with a molecular weight of 115,000–140,000. It was first discovered in 1930 due to its binding to the C-polysaccharide of pneumococci. CRP is a cyclic pentamer composed of five identical subunits linked non-covalently and synthesized by liver cells. It can be detected in human serum, cerebrospinal fluid, pleural/ascitic fluids, and other body fluids. The half-life of CRP is approximately 15 hours. Normal CRP levels are very low but begin to rise 6–8 hours after tissue injury or acute infection, peaking at 24–48 hours (up to hundreds or thousands of times the normal level). The elevation magnitude correlates with the severity of infection. CRP levels decline rapidly after recovery, returning to normal within 7–12 days. Persistently elevated CRP suggests chronic inflammation or autoimmune diseases. CRP does not increase during viral infections, and its levels are unaffected by individual differences, patient condition, or medications.
▏Intended Use
For the in vitro quantitative detection of CRP in human serum, plasma, or whole blood.
▏Storage And Stability
Store the kit sealed and protected from light at 4°C–30°C. Shelf life: 24 months.
After opening, use within 1 hour under conditions of ≤60% humidity and 10°C–30°C.
