Detailed introduction
Thyroxine (T4), also known as 3,5,3′,5′-tetraiodothyronine, with a molecular weight of approximately 776.93 Daltons, is the primary hormone secreted by the thyroid gland. It is released into the bloodstream in free form. The vast majority (>99%) binds to plasma proteins and is termed "bound" T4, while a very small amount remains unbound and is termed "free" T4.
Although bound thyroid hormones constitute the majority in the blood, it is the free thyroid hormones that exert the physiological effects. Their main functions include maintaining growth and development, promoting metabolism, producing neurological and cardiovascular effects, and influencing the growth of long bones and brain development. T4 is part of the hypothalamic-pituitary-thyroid hormone regulatory system and plays a role in regulating body metabolism.
▏Intended Use
For the in vitro quantitative detection of Total Thyroxine (TT4) content in human serum, plasma, and whole blood.
▏Storage And Stability
Store the kit sealed and protected from light at 4°C–30°C. Shelf life: 24 months.
After opening, use within 1 hour under conditions of ≤60% humidity and 10°C–30°C.
